Types of Services Offered For Charge

• Operator assisted acquisition and analysis

• Operator unassisted analysis and acquisition (for individuals who have attended the instructional class)

• Off-line data analysis

• Calcium flux analysis

• Fluorescence activated cell sorting

• Sample staining and analysis

• Operator unassisted use of the RoboSep cell separator

Users who are conducting AIDS-related research must fill out the UCLA CFAR Core application and submit it to the Core Facility supervisor, Ingrid Schmid.  Click here for application.

Reagents and disks are available for purchase. Instructional sessions on the operation of the analytical flow cytometers and the use of the MACS are also offered. 

Services Offered Without Charge

There is no charge for consultation and assistance with experimental design.   Also, new methods that will be generally useful for the UCLA flow cytometry community are developed without charge.

UCLA and Affiliate Rates

    To defray the high operating costs to the Core Facility, it receives considerable financial support through NIH grants to the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, the JCCC, and the Center for the AIDS Research, and is also subsidized directly by the JCCC, the UCLA AIDS Institute and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. 

YOU CAN HELP! To continue to receive these subsidies, we must be able to prove that the Core provides a useful service and enhances research at UCLA. The best way to show this is for investigators to acknowledge the Core Facility and its funding sources in every publication that contains data acquired in the Flow Cytometry Core Facility. If you then provide us with a title page, or a reprint, we can report those publications as progress in our grant continuations and renewals.

Non-UCLA Rates

Core facility billing of on-campus laboratories is conducted based on monthly internal recharge identification number basis.  Off-campus laboratories will be invoiced and can pay by check.
